Letter for a Sister
Ramble #7
Do not get caught up by facades. So many people pursue the facade and change their personality and passion to suit it. The things that people judge you for liking, or tell you your’e crazy when you do not comply with the times, is like people who wear powdered wigs making fun of you because you do not have one.
My generation, and essentially every generation at this point, is in love with the surface. They post their images on Instagram to project a peace, stability, and happiness, that is actually missing from their day to day lives. They present these things to the world out of fear; Fear that their lives are empty and irrelevant. They attempt to fit themselves into the styles, and passions of their times and prior times, in order to appear cool or acceptable; in order to gain relevance. Deep down people feel this urge because they fear death and judgment. They try to attach their ego to great ideas and figures, to show off how many songs they know, or how many books they’ve read, so that they hold up the appearance of bravery. People like this are generally not willing to face the actual hardship, and problems that arise when you decide to separate from the pack and create something unique and new. They are afraid of their own power, or the lack thereof.
Anything done purely out of irrational fear, is a weakness. Fear is what kept slaves…
