Above, Below

A Poem

She dives beneath herself,
In sleep she finds no rest.
Searching the broad brown Earth,
for nothing.
Time passes her by, encloses her,
wrapping her like silk and sandpaper,
her carbon frame.

He lives above himself,
Awake he finds no rest.
Searching the deep azure sea,
For anything.
Space distorts his eyes, displaces him,
unbinding his being like a present,
Unwinding his carbon frame.
